FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
|
Wissahickon Mountain Spring Water is happy to answer any questions you may have regarding our spring water, water delivery, coffee service or filtration. Many of the questions we hear often have been answered below but please don't hesitate to call and speak with a Wissahickon representative.
Is your water really from a natural spring? What about purity?
Yes, Wissahickon Mountain Spring Water really does come straight from our several deep running mountain springs, located in protected
mountain areas in Pennsylvania and New York. Our water is never been treated with any harsh chemicals or additives. We test samples
of our water every two hours! For more information about our spring water and purity, click here. |
How often do you deliver?
We pride ourselves on being one of the only companies that services our customers every 10 business days. You will receive a delivery day calendar so you always know what day we will be in your area. We'll deliver as much water as you need, and you need not be home for deliveries. Click here for more information about our home and office delivery.
How long can I store bottled water?
The date code can be found on the neck of the bottle. Bottled water should be stored under cool dry conditions where it will not be contaminated by soap, detergents, solvents and other toxic substances. Store your bottled water as you would any food product. Properly stored Wissahickon Spring Water is good indefinitely. Wissahickon carries a one year pull date for their product.
What's the difference between spring water and distilled water?
Spring water flows naturally from an underground source to the surface of the earth containing only natural minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Distilled water is distilled by heating it to boiling, turning the water to vapor (steam) and leaving minerals behind. Water vapor is then cooled in a condenser to recover high-purity water.
Do you provide the coolers as well?
Yes, we rent bottle coolers and crocks. On our first visit we will come and set it up in your home or office. We have a variety of cooler models and styles to choose from.
What do I do if my cooler's water is not cold? Be sure the unit is plugged in and check that a fuse or circuit breaker has not been blown. Be sure the cold setting has not been turned too far to the left. If the problem persists, contact us.
What do I do if my cooler's water is too cold?
Readjust the cold setting by using a screwdriver to turn the cold dial on the back of the cooler to the left. Move the adjustment a distance equal to only five minutes on a clock. If the water is still too cold, repeat. If the problem persists, contact us.
What do I do if I hear a crackling sound in my cooler? The adjustable cold setting has been set so low that a large ring of ice has formed inside the cold reservoir. That crackling sound is the ice constantly forming and melting. Readjust the cold setting as outlined above.
Why won't my cooler's water get hot? /font>Be sure the manual Off/On Hot Switch is in the ON position. If the problem persists, contact us.
Why is my cooler making so much noise?
The cooler is not level. Reposition on a flat surface.
Why is my cooler leaking on the floor? The water bottle may have a pin hole or hairline fracture. Replace with a new bottle and return the leaking bottle to your Wissahickon Mountain Spring Water delivery person. If the problem persists, contact us.
How do I clean the outside of my cooler?
The outside of the cooler may be cleaned with soft cloth and mild detergent. Do not use Fantastic and other similar cleaners on plastic parts. These types of detergents can cause the plastic parts to become brittle.
Does my cooler need any regular maintenance?
To avoid bacteria growth and odor, frequently empty and clean the drip tray. Never pour coffee, tea, soup, or other products into the drip tray. To remove the drip tray, simply lift the drip tray up until it is removed from the plastic clips that secure it to the cooler.
The faucets may also be removed for cleaning. To remove, turn the faucet counter-clockwise until it is unscrewed from the threaded stem. Periodic cleaning of the condenser (the wire grid across the back of the cooler) will be required to remove any built-up dirt or lint. Remove dirt or lint with a vacuum or stiff brush.
Can I also clean the interior water reservoirs?
Yes. To clean the interior water reservoirs and water lines or to sanitize a new cooler, follow these steps:
1. Unplug the cooler.
2. Remove the water bottle.
3. Drain the reservoir by opening the faucets until the water stops flowing.
4. Allow cooler to stand until any ice in the cold water reservoir has melted.
5. On Hot/Cold models, be sure to keep sanitizing solution out of hot tank by plugging the hole in center of the cold water reservoir. (Remove plug after draining).
6. Fill cold water reservoir full with clean water and add a tablespoon of liquid bleach. Never use a stronger sanitizing solution.
7. Allow cooler to stand for no longer than five minutes.
8. Drain cleaning solution by opening the faucets.
9. Refill cold water reservoir with fresh water and flush system again.
10. To eliminate any taste problems, a tablespoon of baking soda may be added to a full reservoir of cold water. Allow to stand 3-5 minutes and flush again.
Please note: Never clean the water reservoirs with steel wool or other abrasive products.
This will cause the stainless steel reservoir to rust.
